Audio Research
Heh... I should check my syllabus more often. Didn't catch that we had to do this until just now. Anyway, the seed of what Karlee and I did for our audio project was this, a mashup of a Snoop Dogg song with the theme song from Kiby's Dreamland. It's audio, I know, but beyond the immediate awesomeness of how perfectly the two songs mesh together, the juxtaposition of the 16 bit happy-go-luckiness of the Kirby theme, a song that I will forever associate with a childhood spent in front of an SNES or Gameboy (and later an N64 and a Gameboy Color), and the (comparatively) harsher and more real sound of Snoop rapping is very striking and interesting. Though Drop it Like it's Hot isn't exactly a biting social commentary, I couldn't shake the idea of matching the synthed-out 8 or 16 bit sounds with something recorded from real life.
